Territory of the MacMillan clan:

The Clan MacMillan, said to be one of the tribes of the Northern Picts, claim Moray as the district of their origin. Tradition says they were transferred to Strathtay by Malcom IV in the 12th century, subsequently settling in Lochaber, Knapdale, Arran and Galloway.

Arms & motto of the MacMillan clan:

Arms: Or, a lion rampant sable, in chief three mullets azure.
Crest: A dexter and a sinister hand brandishing a two-handed sword proper.
Supporters:Two lions sable collared with collars or, each charged with three mullets azure.
Ancient motto: "Miseris succurrere disco" (I learn to succour the distressed).
Badge: Holly
MacMillan trading card:  

The card on the left was issued in 1927 by Mitchell cigarettes and reissued in 1993 by William Grant the distillers. It shows the MacMillan tartan and a portrait of Alexander MacMillan (1818-1896) Born in Irvine, he went to London in 1839. In 1843 he and his brother set up a bookselling business and a few months later published their first book. In 1845 they moved to Cambridge. The headquarters were again established in London in 1863 and went on to become one of the world's leadin publishing houses.
